WAKE tradition of paddling in Chuckanut or Bellingham Bay vicinity on New Year's day. Plan is to meet 9:30am Wildcat Cove in Larrabee State Park. Launch by 10:15am. Leisurely mosey around rocks west of bay then turn south 2.5 to 3 miles to Dogfish Point. Have lunch then turn around. Discover Pass is required for parking. Car pooling is encouraged due to parking lot. Winter paddling conditions means dry suits, extra hand protection like poagies or neoprene mittens, an extra layer. Leisurely pace. Back by 2:30pm at the latest. Class 1+ due to possibly chilly conditions. Will cancel or charge route to an urban paddle closer to town if conditions warrant. Must register in advance.
