YOU can teach the roll! Not only is it fun and rewarding, but you will learn as much as your students. The best way to deepen your knowledge of a subject is to teach it. The class starts with an explanation of why teaching physical skills requires different techniques than teaching intellectual ones, and a description of the psychology behind this. Then I will get into the water with a volunteer and actually coach this person, explaining to you what I'm doing and why. Also, hopefully I'll be able to demo the typical mistakes beginners do so you can diagnose the problem, and you'll learn how to coach the student.
We will meet at the Arne Hanna pool during open kayak hours, not a dedicated WAKE only event. We should have enough room to do what we need to do. You will have to pay the usual fee for open sessions. If we finish up before the hour and a half time allotted, you can do some rolling yourself.
I'd really like to get some good enthusiasm for this because having more instructors brings the level of the whole club up. We all learn from each other.
